Showercat
Showercat is a game where you help a kitten knock over the shampoo bottle in the bathroom, by masking layers so the cat can reach its goal.
Using an additive mask to solve the level.
Using a subtractive mask to solve the level.
The theme of the game jam was masks, we were all brainstorming ideas for games revolving around this theme. The theme made me think of masks in photoshop and how you use them to only show the part of the layer that you want to show.
I thought this could be used in a platformer where you would have to mask parts of a layer to make platforms to reach the goal. When we all voted on game ideas we liked from the group, mine was chosen which i was very happy about :]
This cat loves sponges.
Why is it about a cat in the shower?
That's because i kept spamming cat gifs in the discord groupchat
This project was a lot of fun and i had amazing teammates!
I learned a lot both in the programming side and the level design side. For this game i mainly focused on level design and game mechanics but i also helped with programming. We used git to make sure we could work at the same time and used git issues to assign tasks and make notes of any bugs.
Scrapped fade effect that would occur when i mask gets deleted.
I used inkscape to make notes for level design.
Level design art of level 6.
I gave my teammates a bit of a hard time because i didnt want to include the now last level in the game LOL.
Me and my teammates at Code Chrysalis which is where to game jam was hosted.
Around the pipes WIP (i did not make this level)
Upside down T level in WIP.
I swear this is the last level WIP
The game can be played in the browser so please try it out by clicking HERE!
We used github issues to keep track of the tasks.
